Abstract

Binahong leaves have been proven to speed up the wound healing process from the results of tests that have been carried out on extracts, ointments, gels and creams for various external and internal wounds on the body. This research aims to determine the optimization of the Bianhong leaf extract patch preparation and determine the activity of the binahong leaf extract patch in accelerating the wound healing process. This research method evaluates the characteristics of the extract patch preparation by carrying out 6 tests, namely organoleptic tests; thickness; weight uniformity; pH; drying shrinkage; and resistance to creases. The patch activity was tested using rabbit back skin (Oryctolagus cuniculus) with 5 treatments, namely K1 (patch without extract); K2 (povidone iodine ointment 10%); K3(extract 2.5%); K4 (5% extract); and K5 (7% extract). Observations were made by measuring the length of the incision using a caliper, the wound was measured for 14 days. The results of this research show that the characteristics of the F1, F2, & F3 patches meet SNI requirements. Statistical analysis data shows that there are significant differences. (p<0.05) between K1, K2, K3, K4 and K5.  The patch activity shows that the patch with an extract concentration of 7% can heal wounds in 7 days. In conclusion, all patch formulas meet SNI requirements and show activity to accelerate the healing of cut wounds.
