Profile of Hypertension Patient Characteristics Based on Measurements Using the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale (HKLS) Questionnaire

Hypertension is an abnormal blood pressure that can be measured in at least three different situations. Generally, if blood pressure is more than 140/90 mmHg, then a person is considered to have high blood pressure. Patient characteristics greatly influence the knowledge of hypertensive patients. Knowledge about hypertension influences the patient's own blood pressure control. This study aims to determine the level of patient knowledge about hypertension in controlling blood pressure at one of the Community Health Centers in Lamongan district. This research uses a prospective research method with a nonprobability sampling technique using Accidental Sampling. Prospective data was obtained from the results of the validated Indonesian version of the HKLS questionnaire, distributed to patients starting January-February 2024 with a total of 50 patients. The research results were analyzed descriptively, and that the number of patients with a high level of knowledge was 28 patients (56%) and 22 with low knowledge. patients (44%). The number of patients whose blood pressure was controlled was 28 (56%) and the number of patients whose blood pressure was not controlled was 22 (44%). Based on the results of research by classifying HKLS questionnaire statements, it was found that the majority of patients had a poor level of knowledge regarding lifestyle and its complications. The conclusion of this study is that the profile of patient characteristics regarding hypertension knowledge using the HKLS questionnaire in blood pressure control.
